Pandey appointed envoy to China


Kathmandu, Apr 17
Mahendra Bahadur Pandey has been appointed Nepali ambassador to the People’s Republic of China.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari Friday appointed him as the envoy to China as per the Article 282 of the Constitution.

Pandey is a leader of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and had served as the Minister for Foreign Affairs in 2014 under the Sushil Koirala-led government.

He also had been the associate professor of English at the Tribhuvan University.
He also served as the Chief Whip of the then CPN (UML) and member secretary of the Social Welfare Council.

Meanwhile, the Office of the President Friday announced to deposit Rs. 95 million to the Federal government’s reserve fund.

The office has decided to deposit the money from the budget allocated to the Office of the President for the current fiscal year 2019/20, considering the difficult situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
