Kathmandu, Jan. 10
Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has urged
the government to postpone the deadline of paying the income taxes and renewing
the company to April 13.
Satish Kumar More, President of the business body,
has made the appeal to the government after having discussions with the
concerned authorities, CNI said in a statement on Saturday.
Stating that the entrepreneurs had been paying their
taxes and renewing the company on time, More said that the businesses and
industries affected by the COVID-19 from the last fiscal year couldn’t do so on
time that year.
“Some businesses are yet to be reopened while
operation of reopened industries is gathering momentum. Many of them have not
yet completed the audit. Therefore, extending the income-tax payment and
company renewal date to mid-April will help them out,” he said.
If the government did not extend the deadlines,
entrepreneurs would have to pay the fines. “CNI is committed to paying the
taxes and updating the company documents in order to support the government in
revenue mobilization,” he said.
As per the existing legal provision, the entrepreneurs should submit the estimated income tax and renew their enterprise within mid-January.
