End of restriction sought for home delivery service

Kathmandu, Jun. 4

E-commerce Association of Nepal (EAN) has criticised the government for not facilitating home delivery services while easing the restriction order from Friday.

"Although we held multiple discussions with the responsible authorities to facilitate the home delivery service, the government did not pay enough attention to implement the easing measures," EAN said in a statement on Friday.

It has expressed objection to the unchanged provision to allow mobility for home delivery services for two hours in a day from 7-9 AM. It said that thousands of small and medium enterprises functioning on the e-commerce platform are suffering due to the provision.

President of EAN Sagar Bhattarai said that the members of the association have been strictly following the health and safety measures like physical distancing, mask, gloves and sanitiser. Home delivery actually helps in controlling the spread of virus, he said.

According to him, as it was more than a month of lockdown, people are need of stationary goods, mobile and computers which has become essential like the food and clothes. "But the government has not paid enough attention to address such necessities," he stated.
