The
Computer Association Nepal (CAN) Federation has opened applications for the
'National ICT Scholarship-2022' for students.
The
CAN Federation has been providing scholarships to poor, disadvantaged, students
with the help of colleges that teach information technology studies in the
country. This scholarship was started in collaboration with Lord Buddha Education
Foundation which has been teaching information technology for more than two
decades. Through this scholarship, 49 students are going to be given partial or
full scholarships this year, CAN said in a statement.
In
'National ICT Scholarship-2079', one female student from each province will be
given a full scholarship and the remaining 42 students will be given partial
scholarships so that students from all the seven provinces of the country will
have equal opportunities.
Forty-six
students are currently studying under this scholarship programme which has been
running for the past four years.
This
year too, in Female Merit ICT Scholarship, 28 female students, four from each
province, will be awarded scholarships, while under ICT Merit Scholarship, 21
students, three from each province, will be given educational opportunity.
According
to the agreement between the CAN Federation and the colleges, 49 students will
get a scholarship worth Rs. 19.55 million, said General Secretary of the organisation,
Narayan Thapa.
The
students who receive the scholarship can study at the Lord Buddha Education
Foundation, a college affiliated to the Asia Pacific University of Technology
and Innovation in Malaysia. They will be able to study BSc. IT.
Those
who have passed Grade 12 or equivalent with 50 per cent marks from an
educational institution recognised by the Government of Nepal and have obtained
a diploma in computer engineering from CTEVT with at least 50 per cent marks in
mathematics in Grade 10 can apply for the scholarship. Students who are
currently waiting for the Class 12 exam can also apply for the scholarship.
CAN
federation has formed a student selection committee under the coordination of Immediate
Past President Hemant Kumar Chaurasia, which includes secretaries Shekhar Dulal
and Dipendra Kumar Singh and central members Sarita Singh and Bhim Mall as
members.
Students
interested in the scholarship can apply through the website of CAN Federation
www.can.org.np and the website of Lord Buddha Education Foundation www.lbef.org
before 25 August.
A
copy of the marksheet each of Class 10 and 12 along with a photograph,
citizenship or birth certificate and a letter of recommendation from the local
government is needed to apply for the scholarship. The online examination of
the applicants for the scholarship will be held on August 28.
Nawaraj
Kunwar, president of the CAN Federation, said that through this scholarship,
students from the remote areas of the country will also be able to get education
in information and communication technology.
