Worldlink Communications Limited, an internet
service provider, has received the Innovation Award for the 'Emerging Sector of
the Province' from the Madhes Province.
Madhes awarded the company with this award
saying that Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has made an
important contribution to transform the economy of the province.
Such an award has been given on the basis
that the company is operating in the province, has prepared a successful
business model, created jobs and brought useful products and services to the
people.
Chief Minister of Madhes, Lal Babu Raut,
handed over the award to Worldlink's Director Laxman Yadav. British Ambassador
to Nepal Nicola Pollitt and other ministers of the province were also present
on the occasion.
This company claimed that it has been providing
quality internet service in 75 districts of Nepal by building a large fiber
network in various urban and rural areas.
It is currently providing Wi-Fi service to
more than 645,000 household internet users and more than 9,000 associations,
banks and financial institutions and government offices including free internet
and data connectivity at more than 13,000 locations.
Under the project of Rural
Telecommunication Development Fund of Nepal Telecommunication Authority, this
company has been providing internet service by successfully expanding the
network in eight remote districts of Karnali Province and five in Gandaki
Province.
