Kathmandu, Sept. 5
Bhutan
Airlines (B3) has announced the resumption of scheduled flights from Paro to
Kathmandu starting from September 16 with four weekly flights on Sundays,
Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Bhutan
Airlines flights will resume on the route of Paro - Kathmandu – Delhi and vice
versa.
It
is Bhutan’s first private airline and it is represented in Nepal by Society
International Travel Services as the official General Sales Agent (GSA).
Through
this resumption of scheduled flights, Bhutan Airlines will resume its
operations to Kathmandu which had been halted due to the global COVID-19
Pandemic, the company informed in a statement on Tuesday.
Pema
Nadik, Chief Executive Officer of the company, said, "As a private airline
operating in a difficult environment and slowly trying to recover from the
ravages of the COVID-19 pandemic, we had to take certain commercial decisions
to withdraw or divert the flights to minimise losses."
He
added, "We regretfully acknowledge that this may have caused
inconveniences to our clients but more importantly it has damaged our
reputation raising valid questions on the reliability of our flight schedules.
Acknowledging this fact, we have of late been maintaining our flight schedule
despite poor loads and huge losses hoping to regain market confidence."
Rabi
Chandra Singh, Chairman of Society International Travel Services, said, "We
are happy and excited by this flight resumption of Bhutan Airlines and with this
B3 flight resumption, we are hopeful in boosting the tourism industry of both
nations by providing greater options and connectivity for tourists."
