CNI underscores economic diplomacy to boost export

Kathmandu, Aug. 28

Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has requested the Minister of Foreign Affairs N. P. Saud to give high priority to export and promotion of domestic products through Nepali embassies abroad.

A CNI delegation led by its President, Rajesh Kumar Agrawal, called on the minister on Sunday, to request the government to give high priority to economic diplomacy to bring in foreign investment, and to promote Nepali products, and promote tourism in the international markets.

Agrawal emphasised that policy stability, easy business environment and quick decision-making mechanism are necessary to attract the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). He said that in order to attract foreign investment to Nepal, it is necessary to expand business relations with investors from the concerned countries.

For this, Nepali embassies should facilitate regular visits and interactions of business delegations, he said.

The CNI stressed the cargo railway service started from India to Biratnagar shouold be continued, and the movement of Nepali freighters and other vehicles should be facilitated by making a motor vehicle agreement between Nepal and India.

Minister Saud said that the issues raised by the CNI would be given a high priority, CNI informed in a statement on Sunday.
