Kathmandu, Sept. 14
The hot air balloon service in Pokhara, which was closed due
to monsoon, has resumed operations after three months.
Bikram Bade, President of Balloon Nepal, said that the hot
air balloon was brought back into operation from Thursday, September 14.
The company, which was previously providing services with
only one balloon, will now use two balloons in its flights. Another balloon has
been added to the service to cater to the growing number of tourists demanding
the balloon flight.
Tourists can observe beautiful and mesmerizing scenes in and
around the Pokhara Valley by going up in the hot air balloon. Bade informed
that for a one-time flight, domestic tourists will be charged Rs. 9,500 while
US$ 100 is the fee for tourists from SAARC countries and US$ 130 for foreign
tourists.
"If you fly up to about 6,000 feet in a balloon, you
can see the mountains like Machhapuchhre, Annapurna, Phewa Lake in full,
Pumdikot Mahadev, paragliding from Sarangkot Mandre and Pokhara Valley,"
said Bade.
According to him, the company has hired two pilots, an
American and a Vietnamese, to operate the service.
The flight operates in two shifts - morning and evening.
There are flights from 5 AM to 9 AM and from 3 PM to 6 PM.
According to the company, tourists can get breakfast,
two-way transport facility from Lakeside to Pame and a certificate in a package.
The balloon can be reserved for half an hour and an hour at Rs. 55,000 and
80,000 respectively.
