Startup Conference being held this week

Kathmandu, Aug. 26

Ministry of Industries, Commerce and Supplies (MoICS), Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), University Grants Commission (UGC), PUM Netherlands senior experts, ICIMOD and Antarprerana Pvt. Ltd. are jointly organising 'Nepal Startup Nation 2030' for startup promotion and create better environment for them.

The FNCCI said in a statement on Saturday that the conference, to be held on 28-29 August, would play a pivotal role in terms of collaboration and commitment for startup development.

The conference is supported by GiZ Nepal and NYEF.

"This two-day long conference is being held for the second time after the huge success last year. The main objective of this conference is to build strategy, directions and plan through collaboration and commitment to shape Nepal as a startup-friendly nation in South-Asia by 2030," read the statement.

According to it, a Startup Nation is characterized as a country dedicated to fostering conditions and embracing values that create a favourable environment for startups, recognizing the positive impact they bring to society.

It signifies the widespread adoption of these conditions and values throughout the nation, ensuring equal opportunities for all entrepreneurs to succeed with their startups, regardless of their location. In essence, a Startup Nation fosters the development of a thriving Startup Ecosystem that nurtures the growth, quantity, quality, and success rate of startups, said the FNCCI.

The two-day conference will have eight thematic parallel sessions, plenaries, interactive workshops, and startup storytelling. It is bringing together an array of prominent figures, including representatives from government bodies, industry leaders, academia, entrepreneurial ecosystem leaders and enablers, startups and students from all over Nepal. Experts from India, Bangladesh and the Netherlands will share their experiences.

The event aims to establish a tight-knit community of like-minded entities, collectively steering strategies, policy frameworks, and publications that propel the growth of startups. Through collaborative discussions and workshops, critical gaps in resources, partnerships, knowledge, and policies will be addressed, fostering a more robust and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem.
