Clean
Energy Nepal has come up with a new variant of bio-gas technology that can be
installed inside a home.
The
system is portable and is available readymade.
The new
bio-gas system, developed by young entrepreneur Ram Agrawal and Bipin Khetan,
is handy and can be installed without support from engineers or masons.
“It
can be fit into a small space of about 2 square feet inside a home, and
bio-degradable waste and animal dung can be used to produce energy. But its
best feature is it can produce enough energy for a family from a small amount
of waste,” said CEN.
The
CEN is promoting the home bio-gas as an alternative to the non-renewable energy
options.
“Though
this is an advanced from of the common bio-gas system, it is different from the
currently available bio-gas plants,” said CEN.
It
also said that this technology can be installed at about Rs. 60,000. It also
claimed that the home bio-gas would be effective in managing the domestic
degradable wastage since it manages it at the source. “A handful of local
governments like the Pokhara Metropolis are offering grants in bio-gas to their
people. This practice should be expanded across the country,” it said.
