Hamid extends support to 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali'

Kathmandu, Nov. 12
Foreign Affairs Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali called on visiting Bangladeshi President Mohammad Abdul Hamid on Tuesday.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, issues of bilateral interest were discussed during the meeting.

"Enhancing connectivity and promotion of tourism were the major agenda discussed in the meeting. We also talked about increasing trade relations between the two neighbours," said Gyawali.

President Hamid recalled Nepal's support during the Bangladeshi war of liberation and Nepal's step to recognise it as the independent country, he said. Nepal was the seventh country to recognise Bangladesh's status as an independent country after the liberation war in 1972.

President Hamid pledged support and partnership to realise Nepal's national aspiration of 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali' and stressed on increasing the frequency of high-level exchanges between the two countries.

We have also talked about enhancing partnership and cooperation at various global and regional arrangements like the United Nations, South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and BIMSTEC, said Minister Gyawali.

FM Gyawali urged President Hamid to collaborate on the issue of climate change which is equally threatening to both the countries and extended invitation to participate in the Sagarmatha Sambad being organised by Nepal in 2020.
