Unity of Maoist parties soon: Prachanda

 Kathmandu, Oct. 19

Former Prime Minister and Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda said that the unity of the Maoist parties would be finalised soon.

He expressed his commitment to uniting the parties adhering to Maoist philosophy while addressing the grand cultural programme organised by the CPN (Maoist Centre) for the construction of the memorial building in Bharatpur-13, Chitwan in the name of missing Maoist combatant, Dandapani Neupane.

According to Chairman Prachanda’s secretariat, the time has come for the Maoists, who came from the same schooling but are now in different divisions, to unite and prepare for the socialist revolution. He also mentioned that even if they agree on the republic state when they come to the peace agreement, there will be a struggle over whether to make it a people's republic or a broker's republic.

Prachanda said he would complete the socialist revolution by uniting the common people. He mentioned that when he led the government last time, he published the list of martyrs in the gazette, declared a National Day to commemorate the People's War and concluded the peace process.

“I will continue to build various institutions in memory of the martyrs and soldiers,” said Prachanda according to a statement issued by the CPN (Maoist Centre).

He mentioned that Neupane was a senior leader who disappeared during the war and said he worked very closely with him. According to him, Neupane emphasised continuous leadership development. Mentioning that the energy to advance the revolution was gained from the sacrifices of thousands of combatants like him, Prachanda said that strengthening the republican system and bringing change in people's lives would be a true tribute to them.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Nepal, Netra Bikram Chand Biplav said that if the Maoists were united, they would achieve popularity and election results like that of the first Constituent Assembly Election in 2008.

Claiming that only the Maoists can complete the task of changing people's lives, he said that the unity of the revolutionaries is necessary for the same.

Pampha Bhusal, Vice-Chair of the CPN (Maoist Centre), said that no one can change the constitution obtained by the sacrifice of thousands of soldiers, and now the socialist movement should be carried forward through the unity of Maoists and leftists.

Deputy General Secretary of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Janardan Sharma Prabhakar, said that the agenda of democracy has been completed on the foundation of ‘people's war’ and now the time has come to take up the issue of livelihood seriously.
