Govt able to organize BIMSTEC meet: MoFA

Kathmandu, June 5: The government has refuted the media reports suggesting that Nepal could not organize the BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) Conference in the upcoming Fiscal Year.
Issuing a press statement on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its serious concerns to the media reports which hinted that the country was not capable of organizing the conference of the regional body.
“Nepal government has included the BIMSTEC conference in its Policies and Programmes for the Fiscal Year 2016/17. The government is committed to and capable of organizing the conference in time. The date of the conference will be announced at the earliest after consultation with the member countries,” read the statement.
The third Summit of the BIMSTEC in Ney Pi Tah in 2014 had passed the chairmanship of the regional body to Nepal.

The country is organizing the fourth summit of the BIMSTEC in the capacity of its chair.
