Kathmandu,
June 10: Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun Friday left for his 7-day official to
China.
He is
visiting China to participate in the 14th China-South Asia
Exposition and 24th China Kunming Import and Export Fair. "These
are the combination of trade fair and high level forums for interactions on
investment and trade promotion between China and South Asian countries. Nepal
has been regularly participating in the expo since its inception,"
Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed in a press statement.
The
Ministry of Commerce of China and Yunnan Provincial Government sponsor the
China-South Asia Expo and Fair each year. According
to the MoFA, the Vice-President will address the opening ceremony of the expo
and fair will be organized from June 12 to 17. He is
also scheduled to address the 11th China South Asia Business Forum
on 12th June.
His
delegation comprises of his spouse, secretary of the Office of the
Vice-President Rajendra Kishor Kshetri, charge d'affairs of the Embassy of
Nepal in Beijine and other officials from the Office of the Vice-President,
Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, MoFA and the embassy in
Beijing.
Vice-President
Pun is scheduled to return to Kathmandu on 16th June.
Meanwhile,
the MoFA informed that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs
Kamal Thapa is leaving for New Delhi, India on Friday for a 3-day visit to
attend and preside over the Convocation Ceremony of the South Asian University
on Saturday.
"During
his visit, DPM Thapa will hold a bilateral meeting with his Indian counterpart
Sushma Swaraj and is expected to h ave meetings with other political leaders of
the Indian government and discuss matters of mutual interest and current
Nepal-India relations," MoFA said in another statement.
He is
also scheduled to address a gathering at the Observer Research Foundation on
the current state of the Nepal-India relations and also meet the press at the
Press Club of India. DPM Thapa
is being accompanied by MoFA joint secretary Mani Prasad Bhattarai and other
officials from the ministry.
