Journo Award recognizes best performing journalists of Nepal in six focus areas
of Rotary, which incidentally is similar to five journalist groups of the
Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) – education, health, environment,
women development and economic and community development,” said Maheshwor
Bhakta Shrestha, Rotary District PR Committee chair.
Rotary
International District 3292 (Nepal-Bhutan) had established the award in 2012 in
cooperation of the FNJ and Society of Economic Journalist of Nepal (SEJON) and
other associations in the field of journalism.
“Rotary
has initiated the award to recognize and encourage individual journalists and
institutions who have communicated encouraging and exemplary news to help
generate positive thoughts in the society,” read a press statement issued by
the RI District 3292.
Rotary
District governor Keshav Kunwar said that through the award system, Rotary was
playing its small role to promote quality journalism in the country.
