Ambassador of Nepal to Kenya
Amrit Bahadur Rai has presented his Letters of Credence to the President of
Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta amid a special ceremony at State House, Nairobi.
During the ceremony Rai conveyed
greetings and best wishes from President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister
KP Sharma Oli as well as the people of Nepal for the personal health and
happiness of the president and the continued progress and prosperity of Kenyan
people.
According to a press statement
issued by the Embassy of Nepal in Pretoria, South Africa, Kenyan vice-president
William Ruto and other high dignitaries were present on the occasion.
"President Kenyatta
expressed his congratulations to his Nepalese counterpart and government of
Nepal for the promulgation of constitution and expressed his best wishes for
peace and prosperity through its effective implementation," read the
statement.
Ambassador Rai apprised President
Kenyatta about the political development in Nepal including the promulgation of
new constitution last year through the Constituent Assembly. He also
highlighted the post-quake reconstruction efforts of the government as a
priority of the government.
Rai also met with principal
secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Monica Juma
and exchanged views on a range of issues pertaining to strengthening bilateral
relations and cooperation.
"He also inspected the
Office of the Honorary Consulate of Nepal in Nairobi and instructed honorary
consul Jimmy Askar to redouble the efforts for promotion of Nepal's commercial
and economic interest as well as protection of consular interest of Nepalese
people living in Kenya," said the embassy.
Ambassador Rai interacted with
the Non-Resident Nepalese people living in Kenya about strengthening of
cooperation between the embassy and NRN for resolving the growing problems of
Nepalese in Kenya and other East African countries.
as the areas of cooperation between India and Nepal.
