Nepal Rastra Bank has updated the South
East Asian Central Banks (SEACEN) about the impact of COVID-19 on Nepali
economy and efforts made to minimise the impact and rehabilitate the business
and economic activities.
Speaking at the 56th SEACEN
Governors' Conference and the 40th Meeting of the SEACEN Board of
Governors, Governor of the NRB Maha Prasad Adhikari also expressed his view on the
policy proposal of the SEACEN Centre for the coming year, said the central bank
in a statement on Tuesday.
The meeting has discussed the impacts of
the coronavirus pandemic on the economy and member country's efforts to
mitigate the adverse impact.
The member countries agreed to continue the
regular meetings and activities virtually even during the pandemic.
According to the NRB, the conference and
meeting were held virtually. They were chaired by the Managing Director of the
Authority Monitory Brunei Darussalam Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Rokiah Binti Haji
Badar. Deputy Governor of the People's Bank of China Chen Yulu had presented a paper
on 'Opportunities and Challenges in Adopting Central Bank Digital Currency'.
NRB Executive Directors Dr. Nephil Matangi
Maskay, Dr. Gunakar Bhatta and Ramu Poudel and Acting Director Narayan Prasad
Pokhrel had also participated in the events.
