Kathmandu, Dec. 10
Foreign Affairs
Department Chief of the ruling Indian Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Vijay
Chauthaiwale called on Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at his residence in
Baluwatar on Thursday.
Prime Minister Oli’s
Foreign Affairs Advisor Dr. Rajan Bhattarai said that the two leaders
deliberated on expanding people-level relations between Nepal and India.
They also talked about
strengthening mutual understanding between the two nations considering the
bilateral interests.
Chauthaiwale’s visit is
followed by Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardan Shringla who made a two-day
trip to Nepal to talk with his counterpart Bharat Raj Paudyal.
Earlier, Indian
intelligence agency RAW chief Samant Kumar Goel had arrived in Nepal as a
special envoy of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The bilateral relations
between the two neighbours had received
multiple glitches due to border issues at Kalapani and Limpiyadhura after India
unilaterally included Nepal’s territory in its map and developed a road in
Nepali land.
However, the prime
ministers of both countries initiated talks in August following which the
bilateral exchanges and engages have increased in recent weeks.
