Kathmandu, April 15:
NMB Bank has launched a
bank account product with insurance scheme of Rs. 1 million.
It has announced 'NMB
Sabaiko Sahara Bachat Khata', in line with the government campaign, 'Let’s Open Bank Account' announced on Sunday,
in which the banks shall deposit Rs. 100 and top up with Rs. 1 million against
18 critical illness, accidental death and permanent total disability.
The account further
offers 6.5 per cent interest rate, free DMAT account, internet and mobile
banking, and visa debit card.
The bank has launched
the campaign with the aim of increasing financial access and inclusion of
unbanked population in the country, said Sunil KC, Chief Executive Officer of
the Bank at a press conference on Monday.
The Banker's Bank of
the Year for two consecutive years in 2017 and 2018, NMB has 110 branches, 99
ATMs and 4 extension counters across the country.
NMB said that the bank
was campaigning for financial literacy with its nationwide campaign, 'One household, one bank account' which now
gained further momentum with the government's new initiative with the onset of
the New Year.
It has a joint venture
agreement with Netherlands's Financierings-Maatschapijvoor Ontwikkelingslanden
(FMO). It is also a member of the Global Alliance for Banking on Values.
