MoF to fast track bill to amend money laundering-related laws

Kathmandu, Jan. 31

The bill to amend some laws related to money laundering is going to be moved forward on a fast track. The meeting of the National Review Council on Money Laundering held Tuesday at the Ministry of Finance has decided to fast track the bill to amend some laws related to prevention of money laundering and promotion of business environment.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel said that the draft bill will be submitted to the Cabinet by next Sunday, Ministry of Finance said in a statement. The document will be sent to the Federal Parliament at the earliest.

DPM Paudel said that the government will pay attention to the effective implementation of the provisions related to money laundering and will not allow Nepal's image to deteriorate internationally.
