‘Formulate bylaws to mobilise NGOs’

Kathmandu, May 14
Women and Social Committee of the Federal Parliament on Thursday directed the government to formulate bylaws to mobilise the non-government organisations in coronavirus control and relief activities.

It has drawn the attention of the High-Level Committee on COVID-19 and directed the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens to create mechanism to mobilise the NGOs in a result-oriented way.

"It is not expected that there is no clear or minimal mobilisation of NGOs even during the disaster like coronavirus pandemic. The virus can be contained with the cooperation of all concerned stakeholders," said the committee.

It has also directed the MoWCSS for the maximum utilisation of the resources with the NGOs and transfer the budget from idle projects to the areas and projects that need immediate address.
The committee has also asked the government to intensify the monitoring and evalutaion of the budget and development work.

It has also directed the ministry to simplify the process of report-submission.
