Press freedom is oxygen of social life: PM


Kathmandu, May 4
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said on Tuesday that freedom of press and expression were the oxygen of the social life.

In his greeting message on the occasion of the fifth National Journalism Day, he said that the role of mass media in democratic movements was memorable.

“Government is with the journalist in the protection of their professional rights and freedom. We have commitment and firm faith on press freedom,” he said. “I believe that the press freedom is a respect to the fundamental right of people to have true, accurate and credible information.”

PM Oli said that the government was moving ahead on the path of good governance and sustainable development with clear policy provisions.

He also said that the government had given priority to press freedom, democracy, protection of nationalism, social justice and equality.
