Nepal objects to CM Deb’s statement

Kathmandu, Feb. 16

Government has expressed objection to the statement of the chief minister of the Indian state of Tripura Biplab Kumar Deb that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had plans to expand their party in Nepal.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali said in a tweet on Tuesday evening that a formal objection had been conveyed to the concerned.

He was replying to the concerns of people over Deb's comment.

In a speech on Monday while addressing the BJP party workers in Agartala, Capital city of Tripura, Deb had said that his party had plans to expansion in the neighbouring countries viz. Nepal and Sri Lanka.

In his speech, he quoted former BJP national president Amit Shah saying that the party was planning to expand its footprint  and establish its rule in Nepal and Sri Lanka.
