Kathmandu, Feb. 5
Confederation of Nepalese Industry (CNI) has said that the next decade
would be crucial from the prosperity perspective.
“Nepali industrial sector had faced adversaries like earthquake, border
blockade, civil war and COVID-19 pandemic and become more resilient and strong.
If the government creates a better policy environment for the private sector,
the country would achieve prosperity within 10 years,” CNI’s President Satish
Kumar More said in an interaction with the Nepalese Association of Financial
Journalists (NAFIJ) on Friday.
These challenges had enhanced our capacity to function during the
difficult times so government should tap the opportunity to incorporate the
private sector in the prosperity drive, he added.
According to him, along with domestic capital, foreign investment is
indispensable for the economic growth. More investment would create more jobs
which would stop Nepali youth from going abroad in search of low standard jobs.
Vice president of CNI Rajesh Agrawal said that the government should
change its tradition perspective on private sector. “Nepali entrepreneurs have
the capacity to compete at the global level but the government has not
considered this fact yet. In the last 10 years, we have sharpen ourselves with
better skills and strategies. We want the government to devise policy that are
timely and favour the capacity and expansion of the private businesses,” he
said.
CNI has reiterated its readiness for continuous cooperation and
collaboration with the government for policy reform and investment friendly
environment.
