Kathmandu, Feb. 12
The first phase of the
Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop on Health Hygiene and Sanitation (HHS) Protocols
for Tourism Operators has concluded in Dhangadhi, Sudurpaschim Province.
The training was
organised by Tourism Recovery Task Force (TRTF) Nepal in
collaboration and
technical support of GIZ and GATE Foundation. The initiative started from
Butwal on February 2.
The training programme
elaborated on the different facets of HHS Protocols and Sustainable Destination
Management with responsible practices among 55 Local tourism leaders from 11
municipalities of five districts in three provinces of west Nepal.
They are assigned the
responsibilities to further impart the training knowledge and their learnings
to 2,750 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) local small and media tourism
service providers in the region, said the TRTF in a statement on Friday.
TRTF Nepal Coordinator
Deepak Raj Joshi urged the trainers to share their best knowledge and skills
inspiring SMEs to embrace compliance with the HHS Protocols.
Suresh Singh Budal, CEO-PATA Nepal Chapter said that the disruption by COVID-19 crisis had compelled the entrepreneurs to ensure effective compliance with the HHS protocols to win the trust, confidence, and loyalty of travelers in the source markets.
"This is
fundamental for the rapid, robust, and responsible recovery of our tourism.
This training initiative is a stride towards inspiring SMEs for effective
compliance with the HHS protocols in their businesses," he said.
