Coffee Summit to begin on Saturday

Kathmandu, June 14

Nepal Coffee Producers Association (NCPA) is organising National Coffee Summit and Expo 2023 to bring together stakeholders from the coffee industry to explore opportunities, share knowledge, and promote the growth of the coffee sector in Nepal.

The event will be held from June 17-20 at Sasa Banquet in Nayabazar, Kathmandu.

The Summit and Expo is expected to serve as a platform for coffee producers, exporters, traders, industry experts, policymakers, and coffee enthusiasts to engage in insightful discussions, networking, and knowledge exchange.

This event aims to foster collaboration, innovation, and sustainable practices within the coffee value chain while highlighting the unique characteristics and potential of Nepali coffee on a global stage, said the organizer.

The national event is supported by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies (MoICS), Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development (MoALD), National Tea and Coffee Development Board (NTCDB) and Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), and European Union Trade and Investment Programme, International Trade Centre.

According to Om Nath Adhikari, President of NCPA, the summit would feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, and presentations by renowned national and international coffee experts, focusing on various aspects of coffee production, processing, marketing, and export.

It will also provide a platform for coffee producers, equipment manufacturers, exporters, and other industry-related businesses to showcase their products, services, and innovations. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore a diverse range of coffee varieties, machinery, roasting techniques, packaging solutions, and more.

Likewise, there will be Coffee Tasting and Competitions where participants can indulge in the unique flavours of Nepali coffee through guided cupping sessions, where they will have the chance to sample exceptional coffee produced in Nepal, informed Secretary General of the Association, Santosh Pokharel.

Additionally, the summit will host coffee competitions (Barista Championship, Brewing Championship and Latte Art Championship) to recognise and reward excellence in different categories.

Likewise, recognizing the importance of sustainability in the coffee industry, the summit will emphasize discussions on environmentally-friendly and socially responsible coffee production methods, the organisers informed.
