Kathmandu, June 2
Entrepreneur
Shiva Prasad Ghimire has come up with his memoirs to tell his business journey
that started with a modest beginning and expanded to multiple fields from
education, media, petroleum products, tea, hydropower to electric vehicles.
Minister
for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Sudan Kirati launched the book at a
programme organised in Lalitpur on Friday.
Ghimire had begun his entrepreneurial journey from
Hetaunda in Makwanpur district which is now the capital of Bagmati Province as
well.
He began his business career in Hetaunda and later ran
a departmental store in Bhainse Ward no. 4 in Makwanpur where he earned almost
double profits. Later he also joined politics and became the chairman of the
Bhainse Village Development Committee in the first local elections after the
restoration of democracy in 1990.
Currently, Ghimire family runs more than 80 companies
across the country and employs more than 2,200 people in them. This success had
begun when he was just 15 years of age when he ran a grocery shop in Hetaunda,
Pipalbot, in 2037 BS (1981 AD). He earned lots of accolades from the local
businessmen and seniors because he was running the business while continuing
his high-school studies as well.
To materialise his dream to expand the business he
shifted his date of birth three years back in order to obtain a driving license
so that he could increase his mobility with the riding of a motorbike. Then
there were only successes with every business he tried including hydropower and
automobile.
He became the president of the eastern region of
Petroleum Dealers Association and later national president. Ghimire now runs
the highest number of LP Gas bottling plants in Nepal and leads SG Group as
well as a committee at the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and
Industry (FNCCI).
The book published by Ghost Writing Nepal includes
five chapters: life journey, trade to politics, petrol pump to electric
vehicles, current philosophy and views of people who know Ghimire.
This book can be inspirational to many youths who
aspire to become entrepreneurs and contribute to the economic growth of their
society and country.
Published in The Rising Nepal daily on 3 June 2023.
