Kathmandu, May 31
Deputy Prime Minister and
Minister for Home Affairs, Narayan Kaji Shrestha has called Chinese
businesspeople for investment in Nepal's priority areas.
Addressing a delegation
from Sichuan Province of China led by Wang Xiaohui, Secretary of the Sichuan
provincial committee of Communist Party of China at a programme in the Capital
on Wednesday, he expressed the government's commitment for investment safety
and facilitation through institutional, policy and structural reforms.
DPM Shrestha provided an
update to the visiting guests on the investment-friendly policies and
government efforts to further support in the endeavours.
Recognising China as a
longstanding and reliable partner in trade and development, he highlighted
numerous opportunities for both countries to enhance their bilateral trade and
investment cooperation in the future.
He also appreciated the
cooperation of China in Nepal's need and the former's commitment to Nepal's
territorial integrity.
"High level
political exchanges have paved way for agreements for sustained relationship
between the two nations and development cooperation. However, we have lot to do
to tap the potential in trade, investment, culture and many other areas so that
both the countries benefit from them," said DPM Shrestha.
According to him, this
high-level exchange will be important in trade partnership, investment promotion
and tourist attraction. Chengdu has become one of the centres in China for
various exchanges including trade and culture with Nepal.
Speaking at the
programme, Sichuan party committee Secretary, Wang, stressed on further
deepening of the business, culture and people to people relations between China
and Nepal.
"Nepal and China
enjoy age-old relations between since old silk route trade era. We hope that
the business community of both the countries will work to enhance bilateral
exchange of business and investment," he said.
Wang also said that international
trade and financial situation is complex and this is the time to create better
trade and other relations.
He also stated that people
to people relations have created a possibility for new political and economic
friendship.
Stating that making
successful projects and enhancing bilateral relations is at the core of the
exchanges between the two countries, Wang invited Nepali businesspeople to
visit Sichuan Province.
