Dr Khadka meets former Austrian Prez

Kathmandu, June 10

Former Foreign Minister and Member of Federal Parliament Dr. Narayan Khadka, who is currently visiting Europe, had a meeting with the former President of Austria Heinz Fischer at his office on Saturday.

On the occasion, Fischer, who was elected president for two terms, recalled that he had kept the founding leader of the Nepali Congress and former Prime Minister BP Koirala at his home at the request of the then chairman of the Socialist Party of Austria and the Prime Minister who was a friend of BP.

Fischer took office as President of Austria on 8 July 2004 and was re-elected for a second and last term on 25 April 2010, leaving office on 8 July 2016.

During the meeting, Dr. Khadka requested his cooperation in tourism, water power and environment protection for the expansion of bilateral relations established during the government of late Koirala.

He has also requested Fischer to make request to the Austrian government to restart operation by the Austrian Airlines to Nepal.

Former President Fischer talked about historical events about the crisis in Ukraine and European security.

He recalled his visit to Nepal, and expressed his promise to request his government on the issues raised by Dr. Khadka.

Ambassador of Nepal to Austria, Bharat Regmi, was also participated in the meeting.
