‘Address deviation in microfinance principles’

Kathmandu, Oct. 27:
Centre for Self-Help Development (CSD) has organised its 27th Annual General Assembly in Kathmandu.

Chairman of CSD Shankar Man Shrestha, Friday, said that the microfinance had significantly contributed to poverty reduction.

He shared his experiences as one of the pioneers of microfinance movement in the country. CSD is the first non-government organisation in Nepal to get approval to run microfinance programme.
“It has helped in economic and social development, employment generation and entrepreneurship across the country. But there has been some deviation in the microfinance principles in the recent years which must be addressed immediately,” he said.

He urged all the stakeholders to put their joint efforts to develop the sector sustainably.
