Kathmandu, Oct. 28
Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal held a courtesy meeting with newly appointed French Ambassador to Nepal Francoise Puig-inza at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Wednesday.
On the occasion, Minister Khanal
congratulated Ambassador Puig-inza on her appointment and wished her a
successful tenure.
The two discussed various issues of mutual
interest between Nepal and France. They also exchanged views on enhancing
bilateral cooperation in areas including air services, climate change,
scientific research and multilateral cooperation.
Meanwhile, Kathmandu Metropolitan City
Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol has invited Ambassador Puig-inza to attend the
Kathmandu Film Festival (KFF).
Dangol extended the invitation during a
courtesy meeting with the ambassador at her office on Wednesday.
Sharing her experience of attending the
Cannes Film Festival, Dangol said she had participated with the clear objective
of learning lessons that could be applied to the Kathmandu Film Festival, the
metropolis informed in a statement.
“Our aim is to connect the local economy
with the creative industries through cinema,” Dangol said. “The festival will
help create a platform where filmmakers can practise their craft before
reaching the big screen. It will also help bring audiences from their rooms to
public squares, and from the squares to cinema halls.”
“Cinema is a powerful medium for promoting
culture,” Ambassador Puig-inza said. “The festival organised by KMC has
attracted interest at both national and international levels. This is an
important aspect.”
Discussions were also held on opportunities
to exchange knowledge, skills, expertise and experience between the Nepali and
French film industries.
