German envoy calls on VP Yadav

Kathmandu, Oct. 27

Vice President Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav held a courtesy meeting with German Ambassador to Nepal Udo Eugen Volz at the Vice President’s Office on Tuesday.

During the meeting, they discussed various aspects of Nepal-Germany relations, development cooperation, disaster management and the promotion of people-to-people ties.

Vice President Yadav appreciated Germany’s significant contributions to Nepal’s socio-economic development, health, education, energy and institutional strengthening, his office informed in a statement.

He also appreciated German relief and financial assistance provided following the devastating disaster that struck the Rasuwa-Bhotekoshi area on August 26, and expressed confidence that support will be continued during the upcoming phases of reconstruction and rehabilitation.

Referring to the thousands of German tourists who visit Nepal every year and the growing number of Nepali youths travelling to Germany for higher education, study and employment, Vice President Yadav expressed hope that people-to-people relations between the two countries would further strengthen.

Likewise, Ambassador Volz expressed confidence that Nepal would recover swiftly from the effects of the disaster.

He informed that a high-level German delegation led by Dr. Barbel Kofler, Parliamentary State Secretary at Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, was scheduled to visit Nepal for three days from October 28 to explore potential areas of German support for post-disaster reconstruction and rehabilitation.
