Committee formed to retrofit Singha Durbar

Kathmandu, Feb. 7:
The National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) has formed a committee to reconstruct the western part of the Singha Durbar's main building.
The NRA Executive Committee meeting on Tuesday decided to form the committee which will be led by Dr. Hari Ram Parajuli, executive member of the reconstruction body.
According to NRA spokesperson Yam Lal Bhusal, representatives from the Department of Archaeology, NRA and Ministry of Urban Development, and archaeologists Rohit Ranjitkar, Santosh Shrestha and Rabindra Puri are the members of the committee.
"The committee will reconstruct the main building of the Singha Durbar without dismantling it," said Bhusal.
The building was severely damaged in the earthquakes in 2015.

A study by Digicon Engineering Consult last month had suggested not to retrofit the building, but to reconstruct it.
