Nepal
Chamber of Commerce (NCC) has urged the newly appointed Nepali Ambassador to
China Mahendra Bahadur Pandey to help in simplifying the complex process at and
seamless operation of Tatopani and Rasuwagadhi border points in the northern
border with China.
In
a meeting with Pandey on Tuesday, NCC President Rajesh Kazi Shrestha emphasised
on the simplification of process and facilitation in the movements of goods at
the border points.
Shrestha
also asked the envoy to take initiative in reducing the provision to have at
least 40 per cent value added in the goods to be exported to China. The
northern neighbour has granted the entry of 8,000 Nepali products at zero
customs duty, but they must fulfill the provision of 40 per cent value
addition, he said.
The
NCC also sought help from Pandey in promoting Nepali agricultural and livestock
products in China as there was a great market potential of such goods.
Simplification of quarantine process is needed for that.
“Chinese
tourists have a great contribution in the development of Nepali tourism so we
need to promote Nepali tourism products in China and airfare should be made
competitive,” said Shrestha.
President
of Nepal China Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tribhuvan Dhar Tuladhar urged
Pandey to help promote religious and cultural tourism in China.
Envoy
Pandey said that he would work to facilitate the bilateral trade and promote
tourism in China.
