National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) and newly formed Land Commission
have initiated discussion about providing the land ownership certificates to
the landless earthquake-affected families.
During a meeting on Tuesday, the two government bodies discussed about
the providing the land ownership to the quake beneficiaries who are landless
and have got the permission to build house in the government or public land and
forest land.
NRA Chief Executive Officer Sushil Gyawali urged the commission to
initiate the process to provide the land ownership to the families, which have
got permission to build their houses in the 32 quake affected districts.
The NRA has provided the house construction permission as well as the
reconstruction grant to more than 10,000 families with the recommendation from
the local governments and approval of the District Coordination Committee.
The local bodies recommend to provide land needed to build a house for
the landless to the DCC and a committee led by a member of the Federal Parliament
at the DCC gives approval to the proposal.
The reconstruction body said that it would provide the required
statistics to the commission.
Chair of the commission Devi Gyawali pledged that he would work in
coordination with the NRA in this regard.
