Kathmandu, Sept. 21: The Ministry
of Federal Affairs and Local Development (MoFALD) is set to deploy the chief
executives in all the local bodies within a couple of days.
Secretary of the Ministry Dinesh
Kumar Thapaliya said that the government would fill all the vacant post of the
executive chiefs at all the 753 local units.
About 45 per cent of the posts at
the local bodies are vacant currently.
As development works and administrative
process were facing problems due to the absence of the executive officer, the government
has finalised the officers to be positioned at the newly formed local units.
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba,
on September 5, had directed the Ministry of General Administration (MoGA) to
fill all the vacant posts within 15 day.
After the implementation of the
federal set-up, the country is divided into 7 provinces, 77 districts and 753
local bodies.
Meanwhile, speaking at a workshop
on ‘Municipal development plan preparedness consultation’ organised by the
Rupakot Majhuwagadhi municipality of Khotang district in the Capital on Friday,
Thapaliya said that the ministry had also been finalizing the guidelines for
the local bodies to buy vehicles including loaders.
He urged the local body
representatives to form a vision the absence of which creates confusion.
He also suggested the need to focus
on inclusive development, poverty alleviation, investment promotion, capacity
building and enhancement, land utilization, coordination and partnership and
agriculture while formulating budget for their respective local bodies.
