Mahara for direct Nepal-Pakistan air services

Kathmandu, Aug. 30: Deputy Prime Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara Wednesday stressed the need for direct air services between Nepal and Pakistan.
During a courtesy meeting with Pakistani Ambassador to Nepal Mazhar Javed at his office at Singha Durbar, DPM Mahara said, “Both the countries should be connected through direct flights, and both should initiate the process for the same.”
Both the countries had signed a bilateral Aviation Agreement in 1995.
DPM Mahara stated that since mutual cooperation and relations could be strengthened through the bilateral mechanism between the two, its meeting should be organised regularly.
According to him, both the countries enjoy cordial relations which should be developed to a newer height.
Ambassador Javed expressed happiness over the concerns of the DPM and said that he would give priority to flight connectivity between the two nations.
Pakistani national flag carrier, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), was operating flights to and from Kathmandu, but it stopped the service in 2014, after 17 years of operation.
