Kathmandu, Feb. 16: Pakistan and the South Asian Association
for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) on Friday congratulated Prime Minister KP
Sharma Oli on assuming office.
“Pakistan is confident that this will usher in an era of
accelerated economic development and prosperity,” read a message by Dr.
Mohammad Faisal, official spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
Pakistan.
SAARC Secretary General Amjad Hussain B. Sial congratulated Prime
Minister Oli and wished success in his responsibilities.
“We look forward to receiving continued support and guidance
from the esteemed Government of Nepal and the PM, as the current Chairperson of
the SAARC, in further strengthening the SAARC Process,” reads the message by Sial.
Earlier, India, China, the United States of America and
Bangladesh had congratulated the new PM.

Keqiang, Bangladeshi PM Sheikh Hasina and US Ambassador to Nepal Alaina B.
Teplitz offered their congratulations to PM Oli.

Puri had called on Prime Minister Oli Thursday evening and handed a letter of
congratulation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had extended his best wishes for Nepal's
economic prosperity and development and said that he looked forward to
strengthening multi-faceted bilateral cooperation.
Chinese Premier Li in his message has promised to extend
support in various areas of bilateral interests under the Belt and Road
Initiative.
Bangladeshi Prime Minister Hasina said in her message that
in the coming years, the two nations would continue to deepen their bilateral
relations and a new initiative of beneficial cooperation would expand contacts
between the citizens of the two countries.
