FNCCI signs MoU with MEDEF to enhance bilateral economic relations


Kathmandu, June 13
The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) and MEDEF International – the French business confederation - signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for investment cooperation in the presence of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in Paris on Wednesday.
The FNCCI said that the MoU was signed to enhance economic and business relations between Nepal and France and cooperate and collaborate in the areas of investment and technology transfer.
 Presidents of FNCCI and MEDEF International Bhawani Rana and Frederic Sanchez respectively signed on the MoU on behalf of their organisations.
Both the organisations have long been cooperating in business and investment promotion.
The MoU includes the issues like exchange of business delegation between the two countries, study visits by economic and business sectors, organisation of meetings, interactions, seminars, organisation of seminars in technical areas, exchange of information and knowledge, expansion of business relations, identify investment and trade opportunities and cooperation in technology and investment attraction.
Prime Minister Oli congratulated both the organisations for inking an important undertandoing and expressed hope that the MoU would play a crucial role in developing collaboration in the areas of mutual benefit.
Addressing the event, Prime Minister urged the French business community and investors to come to Nepal and make investment. He also elaborated the recent legal reforms made in order to create more conducive business and investment environment in the country.
Rana expressed hope that the MoU would pave a way for rigorous coopereation between the two organisations and developing the business relations between Nepal and France.
She said that the FNCCI was ready to help French investors in making investments in Nepal.
Nepali Ambassador to France Deepak Adhikari, French Ambassador to Nepal Francois-Xavier Leger, FNCCI Vice-President Kishor Kumar Pradhan and other delegation members were also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Oli addressed the Nepali diaspora in Paris later in the afternoon.
