NRB-Bok to launch Knowledge Partnership Programme

Kathmandu, Aug. 27:
Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) and Bank of Korea (BoK) on Tuesday signed an agreement to launch Knowledge Partnership Programme.

Director of the Governor’s Office Govinda Prasad Nagila and BOK’s Deputy Director General of the Department of International Affairs Jee Young Jung signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.

A joint team from the BoK and University of Korea will study Nepal’s financial inclusion, financial literacy, and policy and programmes related to it under the programme. It will submit an interim and a detailed report with policy recommendations to the NRB in two phases.

The NRB said that the study would provide important policy recommendations for financial inclusion and literacy. “The collaboration will also help in exchanging good policy and other practices in the two institutions,” said the central bank.

Executive Director of the Governor’s Office Dr. Nephil Matangi Maskay and Executive Director of Microfinance Promotion and Monitoring Department Dr. Prakash Kumar Shrestha were present at the signing ceremony.

The programme is being implemented for the third time. It was executed in 2017 and 2018 in the areas of projection of macroeconomic situation and policy provision on payment/clearance system respectively.
