DPM Paudel stresses inter-ministerial coordination to achieve budget targets

Kathmandu, June 11

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has instructed ministries to prioritise inter-ministerial facilitation and coordination.

During a meeting of the High-Level Management Group under the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday, DPM Paudel directed officials to prioritise inter-ministerial work within the boundaries of existing laws, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) informed in a statement.

“Let us not follow the path of saying ‘the Ministry of Finance will block it’. Instead, let us facilitate work on the basis of priorities and create an environment for swift implementation,” he said.

Emphasising the need for a results-oriented approach, DPM Paudel instructed officials to work with extra effort in order to achieve the set goals.

He also stressed that monthly and annual targets should be determined based on practical considerations and with a focus on achieving measurable outcomes.

He noted that some laws may need to be amended during the implementation of the budget of the upcoming fiscal year 2025/26, and therefore, he instructed officials to begin preparatory work in consultation with relevant stakeholders.

DPM Paudel also directed officials to engage in advance preparations for effective implementation of the upcoming fiscal year’s budget.

During the meeting, Finance Secretary Ghanshyam Upadhyay and Revenue Secretary Dinesh Ghimire instructed departmental and division heads to work with added diligence in facilitating revenue collection and increasing capital expenditure.
