Nepal urges for de-escalation of tensions

Kathmandu, Jan. 8

Nepal has called upon all parties involved in the Venezuelan crisis to exercise maximum restraint and to avoid actions that may further escalate tensions.

Stating that the government of Nepal has been closely following the recent developments in Venezuela, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) urged the concerned parties in a statement late evening on Wednesday not to escalate tensions.

The MoFA issued the statement on the issue after the USA conducted strikes on Caracas and captured Nicolas Maduro along with his wife.

“Nepal underscores the importance of fully respecting the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of states, as enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations,” said MoFA while adding Nepal emphasises that disputes should be resolved peacefully through dialogue, diplomacy and mutual understanding.
