Kathmandu, July 7
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for
Finance Bishnu Prasad Paudel said on Wednesday that the government would
strongly move ahead in executing the budget of the coming Fiscal Year 2021/22.
Speaking at a programme organised to sign Work
Performance Agreement on the programmes related to the Ministry of Finance for
the coming year, he pledged his full support in the capacity of the Minister
for the full and effective implementation of the budget.
“We have a challenge to change the poor
budget performance situation witnessed in the past. We need to create a
milestone for the future,” he said. “The government presents the budget but
fails to implement it. This tendency must not continue in the days to come.”
He expressed his confidence that the
execution of the budget of the next fiscal would be expedited from the very
first day of the year since the preparations for it have been happening now.
DPM Paudel directed the civil servants to
fulfill their responsibility without any flaw.
Finance Secretary Shishir Kumar Dhungana
said that the Work Performance Agreement had facilitated in effective
monitoring of the projects and programmes as well.
Likewise, Revenue Secretary Ram Sharan
Pudasaini also said that the agreement had increased the accountability and
responsibility of the authorities and agencies. He emphasised that such
agreement should be used to promote competition among the government agencies.
They are not just for the publicity, he said.
Financial Comptroller General Madhu Kumar
Marasini pledged to complete the announced programmes with the signing of the
agreement down to the local level.
The DPM has signed the agreement with the
Finance Secretary, Financial Comptroller General, and chief of various
divisions and departments.
