Kathmandu, Dec. 3
KWDC
(Kathmandu Warehouse and Distribution Centre) has signed a MOU (Memorandum of
Understanding) with NEFFA (Nepal Freight Forwarders Association), NGCA (Nepal
Goods Carrier’s Association) and COSAN (Courier Agents Association of Nepal) to
provide warehousing distribution and professional auxiliary services to the
members of these associations at a prescribed nominal tariff.
Part
of the tariff collected by KWDC shall also go to these organisations for their
development activities creating a win-win situation for both parties.
According
to the company, the clients’ only need to send one message/log-in with their
cargo and vehicle details and the rest is taken care by the KWDC team and the
system in place. It is a Single Window One-Stop-Service (OSS) station catering
to the needs of the business community and other entities in the Kathmandu
Valley.
“Kathmandu
is the main business hub of Nepal where most of the commercial, trading and
distribution activities take place. However, there is an acute shortage of
professionally managed warehouse and a proper distribution centre with easy
access for incoming loaded trucks and trailers,” the company said in a
statement.
It
also said that in addition, there is an issue of “No Entry” for these vehicles
during day time and shortage of labour and unloading equipment during the
nights when the trucks and trailers are finally allowed to enter the city.
Meanwhile,
vehicles also have a challenge to find parking areas.
The
Thankot-based KWDC is expanded in areas of 12 ropanis of land, and provides
trained staff with labour, forklift and crane facility, palletisation services,
receiving, unloading, loading, stocking, dispatching, warehouse-to-door
transportation services.
