Kathmandu, Dec. 17
A team of top government officials
including Chief Secretary, Shankar Das Bairagi, Industry Secretary, Toya Narayan
Gyawali, and Director General of the Department of Industry, Ramchandra Tiwari has
inspected Lumbini Cable Car Project in Rupandehi district of Lumbini Province.
According to a statement
issued by the company, the delegation visited the project site on Saturday and received
information about the construction and progress.
During the inspection,
Chief Secretary Bairagi inquired about the economic and social impact in the
region after the cable car would come into operation.
He also expressed his
belief that the infrastructure project would further help the development of
Nepal's tourism sector and urged the project to complete the construction at
the earliest and bring it into operation.
On the occasion, Chairman
of Lumbini Cable Car Pvt. Ltd., Chandra Prasad Dhakal, had given information about
the progress in the construction and said that the cable car would be
operational within next two months.
He said that almost 90
per cent work had been completed. However, it would take some more time to
complete the construction of the resort atop the hill and other infrastructure.
"The cable car will
be operational after two months from now. But it will take some more time to
complete the construction of restaurants and resorts and other infrastructures
that are being built at the bottom and top stations," said Dhakal.
The cable car takes the
tourists up to Basantapur Hill in Palpa district. The hill top will also
feature a temple and some other infrastructure.
The company believes that
the resort with cable car will become a new tourist destination for domestic
and foreign tourists visiting Lumbini and Indian tourists from the areas
bordering with Nepal.
