Kathmandu, Jan. 8
Chen Song, newly appointed Chinese
Ambassador to Nepal, has arrived in Kathmandu on Sunday. High officials of the
Embassy of China in Kathmandu welcomed him at the Tribhuvan International
Airport. He was appointed as the 22nd envoy of China to Nepal after
Hou Yanqi completed her tenure in October 2022.
Upon his arrival at the TIA, Chen said
that Nepal and China enjoy a relationship that is more than 1,600 years old ago
and since the
establishment of diplomatic relations in 1955, the two countries have always
been respecting, trusting and supporting each other.
According to him, China is willing to work with Nepal
to stay true to our original aspirations, inherit friendship, join forces to
seek common development, and build a closer China-Nepal community with a shared
future in the new era.
“As the new ambassador to Nepal, I am deeply aware of
the glorious mission and great responsibility. I will follow the important
consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and Nepali leaders, stay devoted and
dedicated to outline their freehand brushwork of bilateral relations into a meticulous
painting,” he said.
Chen had served as the Deputy Director General of the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs of China and is an expert on Nepal affairs.
