The task force, formed by the ruling
alliance to draft the Common Minimum Programme to set the government’s
priorities, has submitted its report to the senior leaders of the governing
parties.
The force, led by the Minister for Finance
Bishnu Paudel, submitted the report to the leaders, including Prime Minister
and Chairman of CPN (Maoist Centre) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Chairman of
CPN-UML KP Sharma Oli, Minister for Home Affairs and President of Rastriya
Swatantra Party Rabi Lamichhane, Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party
Rajendra Lingden, Chairman of Janamat Party CK Raut and Chairman of Nagarik
Unmukti Party Ranjita Chaudhary Shrestha, at the Prime Minister’s official
residence at Baluwatar, Kathmandu on Saturday.
According to Barshaman Pun, member of the
task force, the report focuses on setting priorities to facilitate the
effective functioning of the government as well as issues of social justice,
good governance and prosperity.
In addition to Finance Minister Paudel and
Maoist leader Pun, Rastriya Swatantra Party’s Mukul Dhakal, Rastriya
Prajatantra Party’s Dhawal Shumsher Rana and Janata Samajbadi Party’s Rakam
Chemjong were also members of the task force.
The CMP includes organising ‘Make in Nepal’
programme, promoting domestic goods like food, footwear and cement, and
creating self-reliant economy, concessional interest grant to private sector on
energy charges, taxes and loans, and reforms in the judiciary.
Likewise, the government also aims to make
the Public Procurement Monitoring Office and National Vigilance Centre
result-oriented and effective by implementing reform programmes.
Increasing access of farmers to the land,
addressing the issues of landless squatters within two years from now, and
managing the land in a scientific way are also included in the CMP. It also
said that some critical laws in the areas of public procurement, national pride
projects’ implementation, citizenship, federal and provincial police, public
transport, local administration, federal civil service and universities will be
amended.
Similarly, implementation of technology in
education, health, productivity and employment, promotion of 5G, better
implementation of Digital Nepal Framework and free broadband internet to public
and government offices are also included in the programme.
