Minister
for Urban Development Bikram Pandey said on Thursday that he was aware of the
problems facing the construction industry and informed that there was a
positive discussion in the Council of Ministers to solve the problems invited
by the recent closure of the illegally running crusher industries.
In a
meeting with a delegation of the Federation of Construction Association of
Nepal (FCAN) led by its president Rabi Singh at his office in Singha Durbar, Minister
Pandey said that the problem of the crusher industry would be solved soon.
According
to a statement issued by the FCAN, Minister Pandey said that due to some people
operating the crusher in an illegal manner, even the industry operating in
accordance with the rules has been affected. Minister Pandey also expressed his
commitment to create an environment where construction professionals could work
without making any mistake.
In the
meeting, Singh informed that due to the disruptions in the operations of the
crusher industry, the construction work has been affected. He said that he was
happy that a person who knows about the construction industry is leading the
Ministry of Urban Development.
Stating that
there are many problems in the construction industry when contracts are awarded
without allocating sufficient budget, he drew the attention of the minister to
award contracts only after allocating enough budget to the respective projects.
