Kathmandu, Jan. 19

Minister for Urban Development Bikram Pandey said on Thursday that he was aware of the problems facing the construction industry and informed that there was a positive discussion in the Council of Ministers to solve the problems invited by the recent closure of the illegally running crusher industries.

In a meeting with a delegation of the Federation of Construction Association of Nepal (FCAN) led by its president Rabi Singh at his office in Singha Durbar, Minister Pandey said that the problem of the crusher industry would be solved soon.

According to a statement issued by the FCAN, Minister Pandey said that due to some people operating the crusher in an illegal manner, even the industry operating in accordance with the rules has been affected. Minister Pandey also expressed his commitment to create an environment where construction professionals could work without making any mistake.

In the meeting, Singh informed that due to the disruptions in the operations of the crusher industry, the construction work has been affected. He said that he was happy that a person who knows about the construction industry is leading the Ministry of Urban Development.

Stating that there are many problems in the construction industry when contracts are awarded without allocating sufficient budget, he drew the attention of the minister to award contracts only after allocating enough budget to the respective projects.
