Late Chalise's Alpabiram launched

An anthology of articles of late economist Dr. Bhola Chalise's articles, Alpabiram, was launched Wednesday.
April 13th marked the anniversary of the death of Dr. Chalise who was a government secretary and an ardent supporter of the country's economic reform.
The book is published by the Samriddhi Foundation and Chalise family.
Nepal Rastra Bank governor Dr. Chiranjivi Nepal, entrepreneur Niranjan Shrestha, former secretary Bimal Wagle, joint secretary of National Planning Commission Gopi Nath Mainali, journalists Keshav Gautam, Hari Bahadur Thapa, Kuvera Chalise and Bigyan Adhikari jointly launched the book.
Late Dr. Chalise was one of the key personalities behind the formulation of Industrial Policy, 1992, Industrial Enterprise Act, 1992, Foreign Investment and Technology Transfer Act, 1992 and Company Act 1996.
He raised voice for the necessary and appropriate reforms in the economy of the country. He extensively wrote articles on issues like federalism, decentralization, central planning, economic policy and foreign policy.
'Alpabiram' consists of 50 articles by Dr. Chalise and a few interviews. The book includes articles and obituaries by former Finance Minister Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat, auditor general Bhanu Prasad Acharya, Nepali Congress leader Manmohan Bhattarai, hydroelectricity expert Dambar Nepali and other personalities.
The book is divided into seven sections: central planning system and its alternatives, necessity and essence of privatization, economic policy and business environment, federalism and individual freedom, role of the government, reform in hydroelectricity sector and discussion on contemporary issues.
The eighth section includes Dr. Chalise's other articles.

Addressing the book launching ceremony, governor Dr. Nepal said that Dr. Chalise was a thinker of liberal economy and policy maker. "The book will help the county in the second phase of reform."
