Nepal-Guinea establish bilateral relations

Nepal and the Republic of Guinea established formal bilateral diplomatic relations Thursday.
Durga Prasad Bhattarai and Mamadi Toure, Permanent Representatives of Nepal and Guinea to the United Nations respectively, signed an agreement to this effect at a special ceremony at the Permanent Mission Nepal in New York, the Mission informed in a press statement.
According to the press statement, the two ambassadors expressed their confidence that the signing of the agreement marked a milestone in deepening and widening the relations between Nepal and Guinea at the bilateral level in areas of mutual interest in the days to come.
“Together the establishment of the diplomatic relations would help further strengthen cooperation between the two countries at the UN and various other multilateral forums at global and regional levels to promote international peace, security and development,” the mission said.
The two ambassadors jointly informed UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon about the agreement.
With this, the number of countries with which Nepal has established diplomatic relations has reached 143. 
Both Nepal and Guinea are members of the Group of 77 and the Least Developed Countries.
Guinea is a west African country with a population of 11,780,162 and abundant natural resources like bauxite reserves, diamond, gold and other metals.
